This single self-build property provides modern family living in a rural location on the fringe of an established rural settlement.
Our client was seeking a detached dwelling near to the site of an existing agricultural holding, adjacent to the farmhouse. The brief was to create a spacious family home which maximises the 0.3 hectare site available but remains complementary to the surrounding rural landscape.
Berrys provided a full service to this client; initial concept discussions took place to ascertain the key motivators and how the house needed to fit with the family’s lifestyle. Following this initial concept dialogue, detailed drawings were completed and planning submitted.
The team were pleased to have been able to create a family home entirely aligned with a modern family’s needs. The two storey 4 bedroom dwelling benefits from an open kitchen and dining room as well as garden room and living room, providing ample living and social space.
The living room and garden room have been positioned to the north of the building, maximising the amenity value of the property and the enjoyment of the countryside views to the north.
The position and orientation that the team have placed the property helps to allow for a private space with uninterrupted views across to the North. Taking advantage of the south-facing frontage is a vaulted hallway, maximising the light through the landing spaces and the living room. At both the start and the end of the day, the garden room is perfectly positioned to take in the early morning Eastern sunrise or the late evening Western sunset, as per our clients main request.
